MissOuri NanoAlliance Resource Information

[Characterization ] [Synthesis ] [Modeling ] [Education ]

This is the beginning of a web inventory of regionally available nano-alliance resources, and recent results obtained therewith. This initial list of characterization, synthesis, modeling, and educational resources is alphabetically ordered by location and facility name, with sub-ordering by instrumentation type. Look for complementary lists soon e.g. organized according to application area. Suggestions for alternate listing strategies in this regard are invited. Also, look here for parallel construction on consultation hotlines, and resource access, as well.

On the subject of facility results, we'll be looking for links to illustrated stories about specific projects, enjoyable by as large an audience as possible (e.g. legislators and readers of surburban newpapers) rather than highly technical reports and/or generic information about what this or that technique might do (although there may be a place for these things as well). As the list of such application links expands, it may be useful to set up the outline so that it expands fully only in selected regions. At that point, alternate cross-listing formats will become even more important.

Nano-Characterization

The focus in this section is on commercial* and university/institute core facility** labs with a formal mandate to collaborate with users from across the region in the characterization of nanoscale structures and processes, as well as labs with special characterization resources willing to make them available to researchers in the region when they can fit it in. The distinction between facilities with and without asterisks may be worth further discussion in days ahead. Also please suggest other appropriate additions, and corrections. Note: A list of characterization resources organized by application area, rather than institution, will be linked here. A list ordered instead by instrument type will be linked here.

Nano-Synthesis

The focus in this section is on commercial* and university core facility** labs with a formal mandate to collaborate with regional users in the synthesis/manufacture of nano-structured materials and/or device components, as well as labs with special synthesis capabilities and/or manufacturing interests moving toward the nano-scale. Please suggest other appropriate additions, and corrections. Note: A list of nano-synthesis resources grouped according to the process used will be linked here.

Nano-Scale Modeling

The focus in this section is on commercial and university/institute core-facility labs (with a formal mandate to collaborate with regional users) in the modeling of structures and processes on the nano-scale, as well as labs with special modeling capabilities willing to make them available to researchers in the region when they can fit it in. Please suggest other appropriate additions, and corrections.

Nano-Scale Science Education and Training

Note: This list of courses, and other regionally-hosted educational resources, on the subject of nano-scale science and technology is ordered by offering institution even though we expect that some courses in days ahead will be offered jointly (e.g. with web/lab content) through more than one institution. A list of educational resources organized by topic area will therefore be linked here.

Note: This page (http://newton.umsl.edu/~run/inventory.html) is in it's earliest stages of development. Suggestions for existing and new entries invited, as well as on better ways to structure this resource. Although there are many contributors, the person responsible for errors is P. Fraundorf. This site is hosted by the Department of Physics and Astronomy (and Center for Molecular Electronics) at UM-StLouis.
